Marguerita McManus Bio

Marguerita McManus is co-author of the best selling book Crazy Shortcut Quilts (in its 7th printing); Finish (almost) Any Quilt; Quilt As You Go {reimagined}; T-Shirt Quilts, and Sew & Quilt in Comfort.  Her instructional and promotional videos have garnered over two million views, and over thirteen thousand subscribers on YouTube. She is a YouTube Partner, making lifelong friends with every view of her videos.

Marguerita travels nationally to teach her quilt-as-you-go techniques in classes, workshops and retreats. She lectures on quilt-as-you go techniques, as well as comfort and ergonomics for sewing and quilting. She speaks professionally at trade shows and mentors and video records other crafting professionals.

Marguerita started quilting in 1995, taking classes and quickly transitioning into a machine quilter, specializing in feathers. Her quilting has been published in books by Dina Pappas and Trish Stuart. She quilted professionally for many private clients using a longarm quilting machine.

She transitioned into teaching machine quilting (on a domestic machine as well as mid-arm and longarm) for several years. She has taught at private retreats, guild retreats, and quilts shops in Anchorage, Eagle River and Seward, Alaska.

In 2007 her first book was published and she wowed her audiences at Quilt Markets for several years.  Her first book was in print for ten years with F & W Media and has sold over one hundred thousand copies.

Marguerita began producing videos in 2008 to support her books, sewing and quilting techniques, publishing on the YouTube video platform. She has since garnered over two million views to her videos and over ten thousand subscribers. Marguerita is passionate about helping others, innovation, ergonomics, machine quilting and quilt-as-you-go.

Marguerita has created several internet platforms designed to help quilt professionals. Her most recent sites are Quilt-Video, Quilt News and The Quilter’s Calendar. The Quilter’s Calendar is a site specifically designed to unite quilt guilds with the teachers who are eager to travel and teach for them, saving the guilds money and creating more opportunities for teachers.

Marguerita lectures for professional organizations. She has presented at Quilt Market and at the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Mega Show.
